Jawline Enhancement

and Definition

During the ageing process the jawline can become less defined due to jowling and the presence of sagging fat deposits and drooping skin. The structure of the jawline can be restored with the use of dermal fillers and or lipodissolve. We can also improve on the aesthetics of the jawline by tightening the skin of the neck and lower face with the use of Radio Frequency technology.

What is Bruxism?

Bruxism is a condition characterized by teeth grinding and excessive jaw clenching. Typically, it occurs at night during sleep, and many individuals are unaware of the clenching and grinding. This habitual clenching puts strain on the masseter and temporalis muscles, causing them to become hypertrophied (enlarged). Bruxism can lead to various issues, including dental damage, tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems, and jawline widening, resulting in a square lower face.

How Can Bruxism Be Treated?

Bruxism can be effectively treated with anti-wrinkle injections. These injections are administered into the masseter and temporalis muscles, reducing their strength over time. As a result, the squareness of the jawline diminishes significantly. Furthermore, this treatment often provides significant relief from jaw pain, headaches, clenching, and jaw tension.

The Treatment Process

Consultation: Before undergoing bruxism treatment, a comprehensive consultation with one of our practitioners is essential. This consultation helps determine your suitability for the treatment and allows us to discuss your specific goals.

Treatment: The procedure begins with the thorough cleaning of the masseter and temporalis areas. The treatment is administered using a small acupuncture needle for precision and minimal discomfort.

Possible Side Effects

While jawline slimming treatment is generally safe, some potential side effects may include:

Mild discomfort or swelling

Bruising and redness at the injection sites

Temporary difficulty chewing hard foods (e.g., raw carrots)

Rarely, inadvertent targeting of the muscles that lift the corners of the mouth, leading to a limited smile.

Expected Effects

The effects of the treatment become noticeable approximately 1-2 weeks after the procedure. Jawline slimming becomes more pronounced 3-4 weeks post-treatment. Patients often experience both cosmetic improvements and relief from symptoms associated with bruxism. With repeated regular treatments (every 3-4 months) the doses of anti-wrinkle injections generally decrease over time as the muscles progressively weaken.
